there are no leaks, no CO problems they say everything is alright but suddenly there is this horrible smell in that room of old cigarette butts, and nobody smokes in the house.
Someone is lying to you about smoking in the house. Gas does not smell like ciggy butts. Whomever is a smoker in your house, it is cold outside, probably started going into the utility room to keep from getting too cold while they smoked.

Yes, Splash is correct. I was a sneaky smoker for a long time. Winter forced me inside where my wife could smell it. Don't waste more money – nab the sneaky smoker.
