I am looking into buying a soda fountain for my house; however, I can not find a clear description of how much it would cost for the soda compared to buying it at the store in 2-liters or cans. What is the price difference?
Wow, do you really drink that much soda?!
According to this article, the fountain–for this person-works out to $1.12 for 2 Liters of his or her fountain soda.

I didn’t know you could have an at-home fountain.

Consider this. A standard 32 ounce soda roughly costs $0.08 of product (water, CO2, syrup). So in the long run after buying the equipment…it would be much cheaper.

I have actually looked into this becaue I thought the same thing you did, the price isnt that much when you count as prices like 2 liters, now if you go by the price for 12oz can there is a considerable price difference. But I dont think it would make up for the cost of the equipment such as the machine, the co2 canister and then the soda itself.

One could certainly save money by purchasing their own syrup compared to purchasing bottles/cans, but there are other costs to be considered- for one, you would have to purchase the soda fountain itself, there are shipping charges for all the equipment and the syrup, you would have to purchase CO2 or soda water, and finally, a soda machine uses a good deal of electricity. Plus these machines are noisy and cumbersome- it might be easier to spend some extra cash over your lifetime, unless you plan on turning your home into a cafe.

well you’ll be buying almost the same amount..but it probably will cost more. Depending on how much you drink, if people will be comming over drinking it as well…

Well, it’s not the healthiest thing. Why don’t you just drink water? It’s healthier, you won’t gain weight, no caffeine, sugar … etc.
