Opponents of the war in Iraq say that the US invaded the country’s for its oil.
Oil is Iraq’s most precious resource, and it is now finally within reach.
Some of the world’s biggest companies are set to go back into Iraq, with new contracts expected to be announced shortly.
However many Iraqis are suspicious of such plans and worry the country’s oil wealth will go to foreigners.
Al Jazeera’s Nicole Johnston reports.

in fact norwegian company statoil hydro was the first to pump gass from iraq..makes me so proud to be a norwegian…over 50% of norwegians did not want to send millitary personel to iraq..they where sent anyway..so much for democracy.. check out bilateral agreement 98 where us forced allot of countries to sign for “protection” maffia style..

More than double what they formerly estimated and it exceeds that of Saudi Arabias 264 billion barrels of oil. And the US won’t get one drop of Iraqi oil because of their crimes there.

The arrangement with the Iraqi government was completed nearly a year ago.

Russian oil companies are full of retards who only get a 15% recovery factor out of most fields. Why would Iraqis they deal with Russia? The Russians didn’t give a about the Iraqis when Saddam was slaughtering them.

You lose, 1.7 trillion US war money wasted. Iraq has estimated one third of world’s oil. Sudan has very little in comparison and more importantly it would join with its african neighbors to fight back. Now Bush is crying because he lost to Obama and can’t steal Iraq’s oil. When americans are thrown out, I advise Iraq not to sell US oil companies a drop and deal only with Russia.

Of course oil is an issue but America was concerned about security in the area which yes effects energy security for the whole world and is a linch pin of the world economy. Second Saddam offered companies the rights to operate in Iraq in the mid 90s to try and get sanctions removed. the USA could have gone into Sudan under the guise of genocide to get rights to their oil resources. oil IS the purpose on going into their war. And if you are smart enough to acknowledge your own incorrect comment. you should have realized the fact that america is and has always been in dire need of oil.
this plan is a twenty five year control over iraqs oil supply. and if you watched this video you would know why we havent “won” this war on “terror,” because it isnt meant to be won. It serves for the creation of armed troop bases in iraq’s oil lands to sustain private capital gains.
