So fast you can hear the wind of the tire! 7th gear was when the tire reflector flew out and smashed into pieces on the floor at the end of this video. Come back for future daytime speed tests and check out the latest ratio we’ve made for this and The Power Hawg Conversion Project!
For all users of any unsealed Freewheel on any bicycle, make sure it’s always greased, and if using in dirty conditions replace grease and solvent clean inside the freewheel while rotating.

For stability, the …
For stability, the chain should not spin more than 500 rpms, mine is spinning at 472. As for torque, not enough to snap any chains.
July 6th, 2009 at 4:58 pm
Well, it’s only …
Well, it’s only spinning that fast without load. And without load there is not much strain on the chain. No problems with chain wear. It’s not a 10hp.. I can crank it full from a stop the chain will be fine. As for wear, I have already explained everything that will increase wear. Speed is not one of the major concerns in my case. Keeping freewheel and chain greased is.. Make sure everything is aligned and replacing the cotter pin with a more reinforced one, if it brakes. Very minor stuff.

I don’t think …
I don’t think bicycle chains have the durability to withstand those kinds of speeds without copping some serious wear pretty bloody quickly.

Completely wrong on …
Completely wrong on several claims, this is 36 volt 100amps it has plenty of mementum/current for the different gears. No, not 10 batteries.. The only downside of this setup is it requires slightly more clearance on the 2 sprockets in order to reach 1st gear. It starts in 2nd nicely and accellerates on flats up to 5th gear. The rest of the gears can be used downhill. I do not need more volts like the direct Hubs and I go really fast!
